Chapter Five: Question 1

After an exhausting game of volleyball, I asked my mom if we could grab some dinner and of course her answer was yes. My choice? Burger King or a new place. Without even thinking about this last chapter, I chose Burger King. Although I'm not a huge fan of fast food, I know what a Jr. Whopper tastes like and I trust eating that more than I do some random food.
"McDonald's sells hamburgers, fries, and, most important, predictability" (Wheeler 118).
Branding, which was discussed about in the chapter, affects my life daily. Another example would be when I buy shampoo/conditioner. I know which brands I like, and the ones I dislike, which makes shopping much easier. Sometimes, I go out on a limb and try a new product but that is always risky so I try to avoid it and stick to the brands I know and trust. Another example that applies to our lives would be, "would you rather have a Hershey's Chocolate Bar, or some other semi-sketchy brand? Hershey's. Exactly.
I never thought about 'branding' as economics, well I never really thought about it at all. It is an interesting concept to me and it applies in SO many incidents throughout my day. Lastly, another applicable example would be "what coffee am I going to order at Caribou tomorrow?" I could either try  a new drink, or stick to my regular Mint Condition Cooler. We will have to see how branding affects my life tomorrow.
