Chapter five question two: do the issues affect your life? Directly or indirectly? On a daily bases, or more generally? Now or in the future?
"Every McDonalds hamburger tastes the same, whether it is sold in Moscow, Mexico City,or Cincinnati"(Wheelan 117).
This passage is an example of "branding". Branding is an economic concept where companies spend lots of money to create an identity or reputation for themselves. In chapter five McDonalds is used as an example. McDonalds does not sell the highest quality hamburgers, however many people chose to eat there because they know exactly what they are getting. People tend to stay within their comfort zone. If given the option between McDonalds and an unknown fancy burger place most of the time people will chose McDonalds even though the other place probably has way better food. McDonalds is just one example of branding. I hadn't really thought one way or author about this concept, but after reading about it I can think of many examples in my life where I have chose one thing over another because it was more familiar to me This is a reoccurring theme for me as I have been reading naked economics, I will read about a topic or concept and the start to notice examples of it in my life that I may have over looked before.
