Seventh Question Sarah Wilde

Reading The Pencil in class my mind went a million different places at once. Of course I knew that it took hundreds of thousands of people to make one single pencil, but I never really thought about it. "In short, a complex economy involve billions of transactions every day, the vast majority of which happen without any direct government involvement" (Wheelan 4). To me, this sentence summarizes the ideas that Wheelan brought in chapter one. Though this isn't a difficult issue, it is one that I do not often think about. How many people did it take to make the bandaid I have on my finger, or how many people helped in making the pizza I just ate? These questions continue to flow into my thoughts throughout the day. I think that realizing this makes me more thankful. Everything that I posses (physical) has gone through the hands of hundreds (if not thousands, let alone millions) of workers hands and through different companies. I have all of these things right at my hand, but I never stop to think how it is actually produced.
