Chapter 2
Question 6
This chapter was quite obviously about how humans act in self interest and how that effects the economy. With this in mind, it seems like incentives would be a simple fix to problems like the poaching of black rhinos, but they are hunted nonetheless. This happens for the same reason tourism helps the endangered rhinos. Whatever is the most lucrative for any given individual is often times what they will do. Poachers will poach and local people will protect endangered species (as long as they get paid to do so). These situations can be exacerbated by people's need for money, which I find interesting. As Americans living comfortably, we see poachers as the bad guy. Though poaching cannot be justified, poachers are not looking to kill the animal for killings sake. They are simply looking out for themselves.
