An Example That I've read about of the "crony capitalism" mentioned on page 87 would be much of the current/recent controversy in russia over the olympic games being held there in 2014. The controversy they're causing is mostly due to the government handing contracts to friends of the government, and those who have ties to economic interests for the those in the government, rather than letting the market decide, which raised the prices dramatically. all of this price burden, of course, is going to the people in the form of taxes. This is a prime example of crony capitalism at its worst and most meddlesome.
