Chapter 6 question 6
This chapter was hands down my favorite so far. Continuously throughout the chapter, the author would reference to "human capital" which is known to be a major contribution to a lavish lifestyle no a days. Human capital actually being the traits you posses- your determination, knowledge, etc. the things that no one can actually take away from you. The most interesting and one of the most well explained examples in this chapter about human capital was about dropping the people off in a city. The example said that is you dropped 100,000 people off on a corner of Chicago, them being uneducated dropouts, then the unemployment and crime rate in the city would go up. While on the other hand, if you took the same amount of people,in the same city but they were well educated, top of their class graduates, then the opposite would happen. Employment rates would rise and even if they couldn't fine a job, they would make one up for themselves because of their personalities and human capital, they are capable of many different things and react differently when put into that situation. The author went on to say that is a meth addict and Bill Gates were dropped off in that situation, two completley different outcomes would occur. It is all because of their human capital.
