Chapter 8

The mixture of politics and compassion. "Both polotics  and compassion suggest that we ought to offer a hand to those mowed over by competition" (184). In this chapter,- in this section, he suggests if any changes, big or small, occur than changes must also be made to those who are effected by it. But he makes a point to clarify that there is a difference between a political process to build a safety net for those who are harmed and using the political process to stop that creative destruction in the first place. (185). He says that "the economic benefits of compation are huge but spread out over a large group, the cost tend to be smaller but highly concentrated"(185). All these quotes wrap up what I took away from this chapter. Saying that the mixture of compation  and politicans can make it hard for economics to expand. In some situations we are given a choice when it comes to development. The answer might be right in from of us but we are stuck and unable to make the rational decision until later, but we must make sure it's not too late. And hope, for the most part, we don't harm too many people in the process.

  1. Hello Maddey Parker, I defiantly agree with your statement and the way you incorporated the quotes. I think it is interesting how compation influences economics so much. I find that some economists and politicians are cold (it seems) so it's interesting to see how it plays a major role in economics.
