Chapter 9, Question 2

Does our scientific improvement effect the Nation's GDP? Of course. Yet, I never realized that such different things could be so similar. Within the 10+ hour workday, one can get done much more than they could have decades, even years ago. Meetings can be held over video-chat, phone calls, and with airplanes, flying to a different country (or state) wouldn't be too difficult. One can type and simply press 'backspace' and not have to use a white ink to correct their mistakes on a type-writer—one can type all they want, handwriting is apparently old and inefficient. "We're productive"(Wheelan 195), and this productivity helps boost our economy and help with the GDP. When you google "Most useful technology invented since 2000" you see the iPhone, iPad, and Social Media. Communication is key. Without quick communication in the business world, the GDP would drop. What will happen in the next ten years that will greatly effect the business world (thus the GDP)? Transportation that moves at the speed of light? Holographic images used in every day life? This will effect my everyday work and I am excited to see what will happen.

Side-note: Here is a very interesting website that talks about the predictions Back to the Future II made that actually came true (1989). http://sewelldirect.com/articles/back-to-the-future.aspx
Will our predictions come true?
