The two sisters. The World Bank is the world's welfare agency and the International Monetary Fund is the "fire department" responsible for dousing international financial crisis. What I found interesting about this was that the book talked about how much critism the 2 of these have gotten which I would agree with. One quote they had that I agreed with was, "If the developing countries had a dollar for every proposal to change the 'international financial architecture' the problem of the third-world poverty would be solved." With these two things member can pay funds into the IMF and then they can borrow in times of difficultly. What I don't understand how they have found a way to solve poverty if we clearly have the means to do it.
