CHAPTER 2 QUESTION 3

The issue of extinction surfaced in chapter 2 is very frightening. The black rhinoceros is the perfect example of an endangered species. Because the rhinos horns are such a special aphrodisiac, many people are hunting them to make ends meet with the large sum of money obtained from selling the horns on the black market. That's the thing. People have become so concerned with temporal matters that they are willing to do whatever it takes to make themselves and/or there family's more well off. Thus resulting in extinction strictly because of people's immediate thirst for wealth. Also, another long term issue brought up was the pollution produced specifically in Mexico City by automobiles. Now, this doesn't affect me personally but could it one day? Perhaps so. Although the Mexican government made attempts to fix this problem by limiting the days one can drive, this resulted in the placement of more cars on the road because people were purchasing another car to drive on the off days - thus resulting in more pollution. Sometimes, changing things for the better may not result in what was originally intended.
